“I will always explore consciousness and the human spirit in my music, whether I release it under my name or under the Aketous (a-KE-tus) banner. To me, music is the ultimate pursuit of truth—a way to cut through the noise of a world designed to mislead and find the ‘king’ reality that lies beneath.
In the 2010s, I established myself as Darren Farris, the singer/songwriter. That era served its purpose; it was about the raw, honest craft of the song. But as I’ve moved forward, I’ve found that the Aketous identity provides a level of production flexibility that a solo name simply can’t hold.
Aketous is where the music can finally breathe as a band. It allows me to blend the organic heartbeat of the human spirit with the cold, driving precision of the digital landscape. It’s the difference between a single voice and a full-scale atmospheric mission.
Right now, I am finding immense joy in this evolution. Whether I’m exploring the ‘system dependency’ of a relationship or building out the workspace for the sound, Aketous is the vessel that allows me to push boundaries. I’m not just writing songs anymore; I’m building worlds, exploring the ‘Rubicon’ of my own creativity, and ensuring that the signal- the real, unfiltered truth- always makes it through the static.
We are getting exactly where we want to be. One track, one frequency, and one soul at a time.”
Fun fact: Aketous was actually the name of an instrumental piece on my album Psychopathic Issues.
