I have always seen myself as a songwriter first, then a producer and lastly a singer. You can actually and sadly see that in some of my early recordings. I would bury my vocals with aggressive harmonies and the usual studio magic. And that sounds good, but in reality it was my distaste for my own “voice”. ULTERIOR MOTIVES is an exact opposite approach. My lead vocals are upfront, proud and aggressive as fxxk. I still have my signature harmonies and playfulness with supporting vocals but on Ulterior Motives that stuff rides shotgun while I drive the song home.
