The thought occurs to me often that most everything (in contemporary entertainment) that meant anything to me is losing it’s ORIGINAL audience. We are just getting old and dying. I try to explain to my kids that Micheal Jackson was not just a very successful musician, at one point he was a planetary phenomenon the likes that no musician has ever come close to or ever was. That is including Elvis and The Beatles. They were BIG but between 1982 and 1985ish, Micheal Jackson was something that can never be repeated. It obviously slowly went away. I would say pop music in general was a phenomenon in the mid 80s. It was a powerful force. It still is but, most anything that has come out in the last 20 or so years is extremely forgettable.

If you don’t believe me then what was your favorite song from 2006…how about 2011…how about 2019? How about 1998?
