I really enjoy going to estate sales here in L.A. Some of them are just fascinating. I haven’t been to one in over a year. The last one Auby and I went to was lifelong movie composer that lived in Malibu. We found an original pressing of Kilroy Was Here – STYX. I try to take good care of my collection of “STUFF” so that someday whoever takes it next will be able to preserve it for someone else. In a increasingly digital world, analog “trinkets” from the past are simply irreplaceable. I remember I bought Ash some 1930s Wood Wood Pecker comic books when she was about 10. I explained to her that she owns them and she now has been entrusted to preserve them no matter how valueless they may seem, they are artifacts from a time gone past that will NEVER return. I know that sound silly, but as I scroll through Ebay, I really am amazed that there are so many things I can just no longer find.
